Local vacancies: ECONOMIC POLICY OFFICER and ECONOMIC/TRADE OFFICER
THE EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS IN LISBON
has two local vacancies and is looking for
an ECONOMIC POLICY OFFICER and an ECONOMIC/TRADE OFFICER
with a full-time fixed-term contract.

1) Economic policy officer
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on (financial) economic issues and put these in the relevant political and social context.
- Monitor and report on the Portuguese position with regard to EU economic and financial issues.
- Market research: analyze and report on opportunities and possibilities for Dutch business.
- Monitor and report on developments in specific sectors such as High Tech Systems and Materials, Water, Energy and other sectors with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Establish, maintain and develop a professional network in the economic field.
- Organize trade promoting activities.
- Give advice and information to Dutch business.
Qualifications:
- University degree in economics, business, international relations or related field.
- At least five years of relevant work experience in the public or private sector, in the economic field or relevant government area.
- Good knowledge of Portuguese and English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Skills in analyzing macro-economic policy, financial economic policy and market and business developments. Ability to understand complex issues and to report on these in a clear and consistent manner.
- Good communication skills and skill in analyzing questions and answering them orally and in writing.
- Networker and team player: establishes and maintains contacts in a broad field of stakeholders and relevant actors. Maintains a positive, constructive attitude and understands that our work is a group effort that can only succeed if everyone takes responsibility for their part.
- Interested in economic and trade areas but also other areas such as politics and policy issues.
- Strong analytical capacity, curious, service oriented, pro-active and capable of ‘multi-tasking’
2) Economic officer
Responsibilities:
- Market research: analyze and report on opportunities and possibilities for Dutch business
- Monitor and report on developments in specific sectors such as High Tech Systems and Materials, Water, Energy and other sectors with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Establish, maintain and develop a professional network in the economic field.
- Organize trade promoting activities.
- Give advice and information to Dutch business.
Qualifications:
- Higher professional educational level in economy, business or related field.
- At least three years of work experience in the economic field.
- Good knowledge of Portuguese and English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Skills in monitoring and analyzing market and business developments and report on these.
- Good communication skills and skill in analyzing questions and answering them orally and in writing.
- Networker and team player: establishes and maintains contacts in a broad field of stakeholders and relevant actors. Maintains a positive, constructive attitude and understands that our work is a group effort that can only succeed if everyone takes responsibility for their part.
